Operation Shield
A crime prevention initiative for Nether Alderley

Operation Shield is a crime prevention initiative aimed at Rural Communities.

The Parish Council has received a request from Cheshire Constabulary to work with them on this project by offering home owners in the parish a ‘Selecta DNA’ kit. This is a type of traceable liquid which is used to mark up valuable items within the home that are most frequently stolen when a burglary takes place.
Each DNA Forensic Property Marking kit is available at a vastly reduced cost of £8.80. The Parish Council understands that normally the cost would be around £40 and that each pack allows up to 20 items to be marked including TVs, Smartphones, Desktop PCs, Laptops, Digital Cameras, etc. The marks can only be seen with an ultra violet light and can be instantly traceable to their owners through the database. The use of the liquid, with its accompanying local signage and window stickers, has been found to deter crime in areas where it’s been used. More information is available from the company’s website – selectadna.co.uk.

The Parish Council would like to offer Nether Alderley residents the option of purchasing kits.

All we ask is for an initial response by sending an e-mail to the Parish Council Clerk: clerk.napc@gmail.com or by telephoning the Clerk (01625 861942) to indicate whether you would be interested in purchasing a kit.

The Parish Council is holding a short meeting on Thursday 8th September 2016 at 6.00 pm at Nether Alderley Parish Hall where the kits will be distributed.
A representative from Cheshire Constabulary will be on hand at the meeting to demonstrate how the kits work and assist with registration.

If you would like to purchase a kit, please contact the Clerk at clerk.napc@gmail.com or 01625 861942 with your name, e-mail address (if applicable), telephone number and confirmation that you are a resident of Nether Alderley. Kits can only be made available to those who have registered their interest with the Clerk.

Please also let us know if you’re able to attend the meeting on 8th September to collect your kit.

The Clerk will confirm in advance that there will be a kit available for you.
If you don’t receive a reply from the Clerk, please try contacting again either by e-mail or telephone (01625 861942)

We look forward to hearing from you.
