A while ago we contacted Nether Alderley residents about Operation Shield, a crime prevention initiative aimed at Rural Communities.

The Parish Council received a request from Cheshire Constabulary to work with them on the Operation Shield project by offering home owners in the parish a ‘Selecta DNA’ kit. This is a type of traceable liquid which is used to mark up valuable items within the home that are most frequently stolen when a burglary takes place.
Each DNA Forensic Property Marking kit is available at a vastly reduced cost of £8.80. The Parish Council understands that normally the cost would be around £40 and that each pack allows up to 20 items to be marked including TVs, Smartphones, Desktop PCs, Laptops, Digital Cameras, etc. The marks can only be seen with an ultra violet light and can be instantly traceable to their owners through the database. The use of the liquid, with its accompanying local signage and window stickers, has been found to deter crime in areas where it’s been used. More information is available from the company’s website – selectadna.co.uk.

A number of residents have already taken up this offer of purchasing a kit. The Parish Council would like to offer Nether Alderley residents a second opportunity to purchase a Selecta DNA kit on Saturday 29th October 2016 at 11 a.m. for a brief meeting in the Parish Hall.

Selecta DNA kits will be distributed at the meeting. However, in order to complete the registration process PCSO Lindsey Whitehead, representing Cheshire Constabulary, will give a brief demonstration and register your individual kit.

Initially, please email the Clerk (clerk.napc@gmail.com) if you wish to purchase a kit. Please include your name, telephone number and confirmation that you are a resident of Nether Alderley and if you’re able to attend the meeting to collect your kit.

The Clerk will confirm, by e-mail, that there will be a kit available for you. If you don’t receive a reply from the Clerk, please try contacting again either by e-mail or telephone 07717 244 537 and leave a message.

We look forward to hearing from you.
