telephone kiosk

Around a year ago, BT announced that it was planning to remove the red K6 telephone kiosk on Bradford Lane, Nether Alderley, due to lack of usage. BT gave Nether Alderley Parish Council the option of ‘adopting’ the kiosk (taking over the ownership). The Parish Council can’t ‘adopt’ the telephone but, further to consulting local residents through the Parish website and resident’s e-mailing system, it decided to go ahead with taking ownership of the kiosk itself, in order that the kiosk could remain in Nether Alderley as a heritage feature.

The kiosk has now officially been transferred to the Parish Council.

BT has removed the telephone, so the kiosk can no longer be used for telephone purposes.

The Parish Council hasn’t yet decided a purpose for the kiosk. A few ideas have been suggested and the Parish Council would welcome any thoughts that local residents might have. The kiosk can remain simply as a heritage feature. However, other options can be considered depending upon whether permission would be granted by the local authority.

Please contact the Clerk to the Parish Council if you notice any problems with the kiosk or any maintenance issues.

If you have any suggestions for its future use, please also contact the Clerk:
