A vacancy exists for a Parish Councillor to serve on Nether Alderley Parish Council.

The vacancy has already been through the14 day election process giving the option for ten electors in the Parish to request that an election be held. No such request has been received and the Parish Council is now obliged to co-opt an applicant to this position.

To qualify for co-option the applicant must be:

  • aged 18 or more
  • an elector for the parish or
  • resided in the parish for the past twelve months or
  • rented/tenanted land in the parish or
  • has his/her principal place of work in the parish or
  • lived within three miles radius (direct) of the parish

There are certain disqualifications from becoming a parish councillor:

  • holding a paid office for the Parish Council
  • bankruptcy
  • having been sentenced to a term of imprisonment (whether suspended or not) of not less than three months, without the option of a fine during the five years preceding the election
  • being disqualified under any enactment relating to corrupt or illegal practice

This is essentially an unpaid position other than minor expenses but can be very rewarding.  There is a lot going on within the Parish which encompasses Alderley Park. You will join seven other councillors in this role.

Have a chat with David Naylor the Parish Clerk for more information 07717 244537 and look at our website www.netheralderleyparish.com

Please download and complete the Expression of Interest Form and return by post or email shown on the form.  You can also view the General Information from about the Parish Council and you can download the Good Councillor Guide.

The closing date for applications is 5pm Thursday 9th June.  The aim is to co-opt the successful councillor at the Council meeting on Tuesday 14th June at 1 pm at Nether Alderley Parish Hall.
