From Nether Alderley Parish Plan Maintenance and Pride Group:

On 27th February a group of volunteers from Nether Alderley cleaned for the Queen

Nether Alderley Maintenance and Pride has undertaken several litter picks each year since its founding in early 2014 as a result of the parish plan and had already organised the litter pick before hearing about ‘Clean for the Queen’. Although only six people were available on the day several others collected litter either before or after the event and in total sixteen and a half bags of litter were collected along with a large tyre and an old road sign. Most people disposed of their own bags of litter but ’Tiger Lily’ disposed of one very heavy bag to save the volunteer carrying it all the way home.

The group had collected litter before Christmas and it does not take long to accumulate. For example the area in front of Nether Alderley Mill was cleared of litter but was already strewn with litter a week later when a different volunteer arrived to tidy up.

As we held our litter pick a week before the designated weekend we did not get our special pack of equipment from the council in time but the high viz vests, bin hoops and litter pickers will be very useful for future litter picks.

We plan to have another one in April; please contact Anne on 01625 582514 if you would like to take part.
