From Nether Alderley Parish Council:
Many thanks to everyone who replied with thoughts about the possible ‘adoption’, by the Parish Council, of the telephone kiosk at the corner of Bradford Lane.
The overwhelming response was one of support for ‘adoption’ and, in response to this, the Parish Council has sent a confirmation of this intent to BT.
We are still awaiting confirmation that we will be granted the ‘adoption’, as we understand that the proposal has to be supported by Cheshire East Council and would also only go ahead if the conclusion of the consultation (which ended on 29th December) is to definitely remove the telephone. If the consultation concludes that the telephone should remain, there wouldn’t be the need or option to continue with the adoption process. Should the ‘adoption’ be granted, we understand that it could still be weeks or months before the process is finalized. We’re just awaiting more information.
We’re still expecting details of a contract to take over the ownership, which the Parish Council will then want to consider carefully. The ‘adoption’ will cost £1 and the Parish Council will also pay a small amount to add the kiosk to its insurance.
The Parish Council is grateful for all the ideas and suggestions sent by residents for possible future uses of the kiosk. We’re holding these in mind and, if we’re granted ownership, the Parish Council will look in more detail at the various options
We’ll keep you in touch with the process, through the website, as and when we hear anything further.
If you have any further thoughts or comments, do please get in touch.
