Appointment of Village Hall Caretaker
Part-time, flexible (including occasional evenings and weekends)
£18.00 per hour, self employed
The Parish Council is seeking a reliable, adaptable, and proactive Part-Time Caretaker to help ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of our village hall. This is a key role within the community, ideal for someone who takes pride in maintaining a welcoming and well-run facility. The Village Hall is available for hire 7 days a week, generally from 09:00 until 22:00.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as an ambassador for the Village Hall, providing a friendly and helpful point of contact for hirers and visitors
- Open and close the hall as required for bookings and events
- Maintain and manage the booking diary, liaising with regular and one-off hirers
- Prepare rooms for events, including setting out and clearing away tables and chairs
- Carry out basic maintenance to ensure the hall is safe, clean, and presentable
- Carry out ad hoc cleaning to support cleaner if needed
- Monitor supplies and report maintenance or repair needs to the management committee
- Ensure health and safety procedures are followed
The Ideal Candidate will:
- Be adaptable and reliable, with a flexible approach to working hours
- Have good communication and organisational skills
- Be able to work independently and use their initiative
- Will need their own transport to attend Village Hall
- Take pride in supporting a valued community facility
- Have basic DIY or caretaking experience (desirable but not essential)
